The Farmers Bank Cuts the Ribbon and Announces 15K Westfield Washington Schools Foundation Endowment
Westfield, IN – January 10, 2024 – The Farmers Bank commemorated the grand opening of its new Westfield Financial Center and announced a new local scholarship through the Westfield Washington School Foundation (WWSF) today. The ceremony, held at 4 p.m. near the corner of Springmill Road and State Road 32, brought together key figures from the bank, including members of the Board of Directors with more than 50 bank representatives from Hamilton, Clinton, and Boone counties in attendance.
Leading his first ribbon cutting as Mayor, newly installed Westfield Mayor Scott Willis was joined by City Council members, business community leaders, and new Westfield Chamber President Courtney Albright. The event showcased The Farmers Bank's commitment to becoming an integral part of the Westfield community. At the ceremony, Farmers Bank CEO Chris Cook announced the establishment of a new endowment with WWSF. This endowment will support graduating high school seniors pursuing business and accounting degrees, with the first $1,000 scholarship set to be awarded at Westfield High School's senior night scholarship ceremony in May. Applications will be available later this month through the Foundation.
Notably, The Farmers Bank becomes the first financial institution to offer such a scholarship through the school's foundation, reinforcing its dedication to fostering education and community development. Steve Latour, Director of the Westfield Financial Center said, “The Farmers Bank is wasting no time supporting Westfield residents and the organizations that make our community stronger. As a community bank, we have great enthusiasm for community engagement. Not only are we announcing this new endowment, we are also the title sponsor of the 2024 Westfield Winter Market.” The market takes place each Saturday through March from 9:00 a.m. to noon at West Fork Whiskey. The bank is also the title sponsor for the upcoming Westfield Lantern Award Ceremony hosted by the Westfield Chamber.
During today’s ribbon-cutting ceremony, CEO Chris Cook also remarked on the bank’s commitment to sustainability, with the installation of a cutting-edge Smartflower in front of the Westfield Financial Center entrance. As the first of its kind in the State of Indiana, this solar-powered marvel contributes directly to the bank's energy needs, supplying power for lights and other equipment. The Smartflower underscores The Farmers Bank's commitment to environmental responsibility and innovation. This spring, the bank plans to host local schools field trips inviting students and faculty to tour the new facility and learn about the solar-powered technology.
It was also noted during the ceremony that the bank has installed Video ATMs in its drive-up lanes, allowing customers to see and speak with a Farmers Bank staff member and process transactions as if they were standing inside the bank. The technology is still relatively new to the area. The Farmers Bank is one of the first in Westfield to offer this option to customers who may not be able to leave their vehicle but need assistance with their transaction.
The Farmers Bank looks forward to being an integral part of Westfield's growth and success, supporting local businesses and contributing to the thriving community.
The Westfield Financial Center is open Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and open on Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. The drive-up ATM is available 24/7.
